What's on most Denver driveways
Usually three things. Tire marks and road film where you park. A white or gray haze from the mag chloride that drips off your car all winter. And dust the wind packs into the surface. A garden hose won't move any of it.
How we clean it
We pre-treat the whole slab, then run a surface cleaner with water up to 200 degrees. The surface cleaner keeps the spray even, so you don't end up with stripes. Edges, expansion joints, and the strip by the garage door get wand work. Then we rinse toward the street, away from the garage and the flower beds.
When we're done we rinse the sidewalk and the gutter at the curb, so there isn't a line of mud left in front of the house.
Oil spots and rust
A normal clean lightens most oil drips. Old oil that's soaked in, and orange rust from sprinklers, need their own treatment, which we price separately. At the walkthrough we'll tell you what we expect to come out and what won't.
Timing
A standard two or three car driveway takes about two hours. Spring is our busy season because everyone wants the winter mag chloride off. If you plan to seal, clean first and give it at least a day to dry.
Driveway questions
Can you get all the oil out?
Fresh drips usually, yes. Old stains get a lot lighter but may leave a faint shadow. A poultice treatment pulls out more.
Do I need to move my cars?
Yes, out of the driveway. If you can keep the street in front clear too, that helps.
Should I seal it after?
It's worth it here. Sealer slows down mag chloride and water getting into the concrete. We can do it on a dry day after the clean.
